Black car, town car, private car: what you get
Black car service, town car service and private car service are three names for the same thing: a black car with a professional chauffeur, booked ahead at a set price. Town car service is named after the Lincoln Town Car, which went out of production in 2011. The same ride today is a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar in Business Class, or a Chevrolet Suburban or similar in the Business SUV.
The difference from a ride app is in how it is booked. Your chauffeur is assigned ahead of time and is on site 15 minutes before pickup, the price is fixed when you pay, and there is no surge at 2 a.m. or after a game lets out. Cars are detailed daily and have bottled water, phone chargers and Wi-Fi.
A one-way booking goes from A to B. If your day has several stops or the car needs to wait, book by the hour instead and keep the same car and chauffeur with you.
Which car class to book
- Business Class: Mercedes-Benz E-Class or similar, up to 3 passengers and about 3 bags
- Business SUV: Chevrolet Suburban or similar, up to 6 passengers and about 6 bags
- First Class: Cadillac Escalade or Mercedes S-Class or similar, up to 6 passengers

How is your black car service different from Uber Black?
A ride app sets the price when you tap and raises it when demand rises. A black car booked with us is assigned ahead, priced when you book with no surge, and the chauffeur is on site 15 minutes before pickup. Airport pickups add flight tracking and a name-sign meet and greet.
Can I book a black car for later today?
Yes, as long as pickup is at least 2 hours away; the booking form will not accept an earlier time. Booking is open 24/7, including for early-morning airport runs and late-night rides home.
What does a town car service cost in Los Angeles?
A one-way fare depends on distance and car class. The examples above show current prices for common rides, and entering your own pickup and drop-off gives the exact fare before you pay. Gratuity is not included, and tolls or parking may be added.
Should I book a one-way ride or by the hour?
Book one-way when you are going from one place to another and do not need the car afterward, such as a hotel to LAX. Book hourly when you have several stops or want the car to wait, such as a day of meetings or a shopping trip.
How many bags fit in a black car sedan?
Business Class takes about 3 bags with up to 3 passengers. For more luggage, the Business SUV takes about 6 bags with up to 6 passengers. Put your bag count in the notes so the chauffeur is ready to load them.
Can I book a private car for someone else?
Yes. Enter their pickup address, add the passenger’s name and phone number in the notes for the chauffeur, and pay on your own card. It is a simple way to get a visiting parent, a client or a guest where they need to be.
Do you pick up in Orange County?
Yes. Pickups are anywhere in Los Angeles and Orange County, including Irvine, Anaheim, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, and drop-offs can be anywhere. Irvine to Downtown LA, for example, is about 40 miles and gets a fixed fare before you book like any other ride.
What if I need to cancel a one-way ride?
Cancel 24 hours or more before pickup for a full refund. Between 12 and 24 hours the fee is 25% of the fare, between 6 and 12 hours it is 50%, and under 6 hours or a no-show is charged in full.
