The drive from Los Angeles to Indio

From Downtown Los Angeles the route is the I-10 east, or the 60, which joins it in Beaumont. From there it is one freeway through Banning, Cabazon and the San Gorgonio Pass, past the wind farms and Palm Springs, to the Indio exits for the Empire Polo Club. Without traffic that is about 125 miles and a little over two hours; from Orange County, the 91 east to the 60 makes it slightly shorter.

Festival weekends are a different drive. On each Friday the I-10 east slows around Beaumont and Banning and again in the last miles into Indio, where traffic follows the festival’s own plan. Count on three hours or more on Fridays and Saturdays, and expect the roads out of the polo grounds to take an hour or more to clear after the final set.

Each year the festival sets designated drop-off and pickup areas for private cars and rideshares, and they can move between editions. Check the area named in your ticket information and put it in the booking or in the notes for your chauffeur, so you are dropped where you can walk straight in.

Ways to book your festival ride

Every ride starts in Los Angeles or Orange County, so pick the option that matches where you sleep.

    Day trip, chauffeur waits

Book by the hour from your LA or OC address. The chauffeur drives you out, waits nearby during the festival and drives you home the same night. A 12-hour booking leaves about six hours on the grounds.

One way to your desert stay

Staying in Indio, La Quinta or Palm Desert for the weekend? Book a one-way ride from home to your rental or hotel. A separate pickup in the desert can’t be booked, so plan the trip back before you go.

    One booking per festival day

Going on Friday and Sunday only? Each day is its own booking from LA or OC, so you sleep in your own bed between festival days and skip the desert hotel.

    A sample 12-hour festival day

How the hours of a day trip from Los Angeles usually divide up on a festival weekend.

    1. 1

1:30 PM · Pickup at home

Your chauffeur is outside 15 minutes early, with bottled water and phone chargers in the car for the drive east.

    2. 2

      4:30 PM · Drop-off in Indio

About three hours of festival-day traffic, including a short stop in Cabazon if the group wants one.

    3. 3

11:00 PM · Back at the car

Walk to the agreed pickup area. Leaving before the final set ends gets you out ahead of the main exit traffic.

    4. 4

1:30 AM · Home in LA

The westbound I-10 is light at night, so the drive back takes about two and a half hours.

    Planning for a desert day

    April heat

Afternoons in Indio are often in the high 80s or 90s, and it cools fast after sunset. Pack a layer for the night; the car is climate-controlled for the ride home.

    Agree on a meeting point

Cell service near the grounds gets overloaded at closing time. Before you walk in, agree on the pickup area and a time with your chauffeur and the whole group.

    Keep a phone charged

Charge up in the car on the way out. A dead phone after the last set is the most common reason a group and its driver struggle to find each other.

    Break in Cabazon

Cabazon, about 45 minutes before Indio, has outlets, fast food and fuel. On an hourly booking, add it as a stop and the chauffeur waits while you shop.

Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp or call +1 (310) 861-7924.

When are Coachella and Stagecoach in 2027?

Both take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio in April: Coachella over two back-to-back weekends, Friday to Sunday, and Stagecoach, the country festival, on the weekend after. Check the festivals’ own sites for the exact 2027 dates before you book. The Friday of each weekend is usually the heaviest traffic day on the I-10.

Can a car service pick us up at Coachella after the festival?

Only as part of a booking that started in Los Angeles or Orange County, because every ride has to begin there. Book by the hour from your LA or OC address, and the same chauffeur drops you off, waits nearby and drives you home that night. A separate pickup from Indio or a desert rental can’t be booked.

How many hours should we book for a Coachella day trip from LA?

Book 12 hours, the longest hourly booking. On festival days the drive takes about three hours out and two and a half back, so 12 hours leaves roughly six on the grounds, for example 4:30 PM to 11 PM. If you want to stay until the very last set, a one-way drop-off at a hotel in the valley fits better.

What’s the best vehicle for a Coachella group?

For up to 6 people, the Business SUV is the practical choice, with room for about six bags plus jackets and blankets. Groups of 7 to 12 fit in one Sprinter van, booked by the hour with a 3-hour minimum, so everyone arrives together. Two or three people ride comfortably in Business Class, and First Class suits a small group that wants the most comfortable cabin for a long day.

Do you offer Stagecoach car service too?

Yes. Stagecoach uses the same Empire Polo Club grounds and the same drive from LA, so it books the same way: by the hour for a day trip, or one way to your desert hotel or rental. Check the festival’s drop-off area for private cars, which can differ from Coachella’s, and add it to your booking.

Is there surge pricing on festival weekends?

No. The price of your ride is fixed and shown before you pay, and it doesn’t rise on festival weekends. The full fare is charged when you book. Hourly bookings are priced by the hours you choose, so slow traffic inside those hours costs nothing extra.

How far ahead should we book Coachella transportation?

Book as soon as your passes and dates are set: a day trip ties up one car and chauffeur for the whole day, so festival dates are taken early. The minimum is 2 hours before pickup. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup; closer than that a fee applies, rising to the full fare under 6 hours.

Can we stop for food or supplies on the way to Indio?

On an hourly booking, yes: add the stops when you book and the chauffeur waits at each one. Cabazon, about 45 minutes before Indio, has outlets, fast food and fuel, and Palm Springs is about 25 minutes from the festival. A one-way fare covers the direct ride to your drop-off.
